Local Carer Awarded ‘Heart of Gold’

Sorin Glavan, a Care Assistant from Norwich, has won a Heart of Gold Award at a ceremony at Brooklands Care Home in Drayton, near Norwich today, Monday September 21st. Sorin has worked at Brooklands for 16 months.

The Awards seek to recognise employees for their dedication and commitment in providing high quality care and compassion to all the home’s residents.

Cathy Charley, manager of Brooklands said: “Those who have been nominated do not just do their jobs, they consistently demonstrate compassion and dedication to make our residents lives better each and every day.

“But Sorin richly deserves this special award. He always goes that extra mile to help both residents and staff and gives 110% to everything he does. He shows respect and kindness to all and is patient and considerate – he really does have a heart of gold!”

Sorin was presented with an etched glass plaque to commemorate his success and an Armani watch by by Alnur Dhanani, Chairman of Carebase, the company that owns Brooklands Care Home. Nominations for the award came from residents and their relatives, co-workers, social workers and local health professionals.

Sorin said: “I am thrilled to win the Heart of Gold. It was a complete surprise but it’s lovely to be recognised by the residents who make this a job I love. But I wouldn’t be here without the wonderful team at Brooklands who give me so much support and help to do my job to the best of my ability – thank you to everyone”.

Altogether there were 36 nominees for the award at Brooklands and all nominees received a Heart of Gold lapel pin.
